Suspicions, whispered gossip, seemingly harmless, Until one day, the diagnosis. He doesn’t believe it, he is fine, until he hears his life’s prognosis. Confusion spreads, his people change, his world is suddenly very strange. He fights against it, holds it tight, surrounds himself with those, who make his world bright. His actions become free, his mind is wild, why are my family acting so riled? Go here, buy this- oh! lets do this! hold me, love me, don’t forget my kiss. He’s frustrated, he is scared, his mind no longer his own, how did he suddenly seem so alone? Everything which was home, is now unknown. He feels angry, starting to accept, things aren’t quite, how he percepts. Now he is stripped, of dignity and choice, he is fed, he is washed, his basic needs met. He can no longer tell us, his loves and regret. His eyes full of pain, growing weaker and distant, if we could, we would have you back in an instant. Though his love still flows like a river, he is with our great forgiver. He is our father, he is David.
