Welcome to CareNotes. In this special section we will feature a reader's letter and provide an opportunity for an interactive exchange that will help find some answers and possible solutions to concerns.
Need a Mediator?
I believe my parents - who have different stages of Alzheimer's; should be allowed to "participate" in anything that involves their care (ie: who, what, where, when, etc.); as well as any & all family conferences in their regard. Unfortunately, there are 8 -9 siblings that disagree with this & have excluded our parents, as well the primary caregiver = me, from these family meetings & decision making. A "mediator" is probably needed to help with these issues. I am afraid that this will end up in a "legal" battle between siblings if not sorted out. Our parents have noticed the dissension/tension amongst their children, and that is not good for them. I would greatly appreciate input from other caregivers who have these similar issues. Thank you.
