FamilyCaregiversOnline.net is a free, user friendly website for new, as well as seasoned, family and informal caregivers.
The website provides:
- Comprehensive Resource Directory
- Detailed Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
- Education modules
- Archives of telephone education and support sessions with leading experts
- List of education events and support groups
- Caregiver stories sharing experiences and encouraging caregivers that their experiences are shared by others
- Social media, e-Newletters, and blogs
The site, created in 2002, is publicly funded by North Central Texas Area Agency on Aging, Community Council of Greater Dallas/Dallas Area Agency on Aging, and Texas Health & Human Services. Most counties outside the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex are rural, lacking access to resources, education, and services.
The website provides help, regardless of where caregivers are. Content is written, updated, and resources vetted to ensure the highest value to caregivers. Because of public funding, only non-profit services and organizations are listed. Doni Green, Aging Services Manager stated, “The North Central Texas Area Agency on Aging is a proud sponsor of Family Caregivers Online, a source of unbiased and comprehensive resource information and education. Its expertly curated content integrates federal, state, and local information and supports caregivers at all stages of their journey.”
