How did you become the caregiver for your loved one?
My mom and I have always been close. After she developed cancer, at age 90 she had chemo. Chemo helped to save her life, but caused neurological deficits.
Has your relationship changed with the loved one that you are caring for? If so how?
Yes I must say our relationship has changed. Mom was my caregiver for the longest period of time. The times have changed and I am now the caregiver which is not always popular, when you are caregiving a parent
What is the hardest thing about being a caregiver and the most rewarding thing?
The hardest thing about being a caregiver is seeing the pain your loved one goes through. They lose many abilities, but we gain a bond that is immeasurable.
What advice would you give to other caregivers?
Take every day with prayer. Remember, to caregive with dignity, and insight as well as thoughtfulness.
