How did you become the caregiver for your loved one?
As a daughter of the recipient.
Has your relationship changed with the loved one that you are caring for? If so how?
Yes, even though she is my Mom, our relationship grew in different ways than a mother-daughter relationship. It became deeper than that, seeing her strength and faith in a different manner as she fought through her pain and fear at the same time.
What is the hardest thing about being a caregiver and the most rewarding thing?
Depending on the situation, I feel the hardest was exhaustion and patience. The most rewarding, seeing my Mom in a different light and the strength and faith she passed on to me.
What advice would you give to other caregivers?
It's ok to feel frustrated and cry, and laugh..but most of all, don't be afraid of learning something from this experience.
In ten words or less, what has caregiving taught you?
Patience, FAITH, respect, compassion, and peace.
Describe a situation where being a Fearless Caregiver helped you succeed?
Have patience and compassion - understanding and accepting (although it's not that easy) that we sometimes we cannot change what will be.
