How did you become the caregiver for your loved one?
I haven't any choice. I'm not getting paid for it. I've sacrificed my jobs and make no money to take care of my loved one. How am I gonna make it? I have yet to figure that out. But when I do. I know GOD has his eye on me. And I will be OK.
Has your relationship changed with the loved one that you are caring for? If so how?
Yeah it has. I love my father and he's the only one I'll ever know. It hurts but its a part of life. Its brought us closer cause now we come to this struggle together I may come out alone in the long run. But I will keep his spirits up for the meantime.
What is the hardest thing about being a caregiver and the most rewarding t
hing?
The hardest is dealing with the fact he will never be the same. He's fading slowly and I can't do anything about it. The rewarding thing is I've learned more about him then I've known all my life. By listening to stories untold by him.
What advice would you give to other caregivers?
Its overwhelming spiritually mentally and physically it takes a lot out of a person. Even more so when you make nothing off of it. But you do it for the loved one. The rest is in GODS hand.
In ten words or less, what has caregiving taught you?
Patience, reality, faith, love, pain, strength, fear, heart, dedication and unconditional love
Describe a situation where being a Fearless Caregiver helped you succeed?
That I will be dealing with death again. Compared to the 30+ people I've lost in my family and friends withing the last 8 month from my daughter's mom to my dad. But in all my faith in GOD will not ever die.
