I was just interviewed for an international insurance magazine (I didn’t know there was such a thing, but it sounded cool, so I did the interview).
The reporter asked an insightful question for it being a full year past the onset of Covid-19.
“I was wondering if I could get a quick word with you regarding the major transition your business faced dealing with the pandemic last year. I would love to hear your views.”
My response:
Over the past 25 years, one of the most important elements to our support to caregivers at Caregiver.com has been the in-person Fearless Caregiver Conferences held around the nation. We were able to conduct two events in early 2020 before having to postpone an additional 12. Which was truly frustrating because we love nothing more than to spend the day with the true caregiver experts -family caregivers.
To maintain this vital connection, we increased our digital outreach to include interviews with healthcare leaders in our Caregiver Conversations: Covid-19 video series, as well as recreating the in-person events as Virtual Fearless Caregiver conferences.
The first virtual event was for New Haven Connecticut in December and the next one will be on March 11th for Broward County, Florida. We plan to host one every six weeks or so with local focuses.
Although the Zoomification of the nation makes it too easy to nationalize the conversation, for so many issues of importance to caregivers, our tried and true saying still holds true that all caregiving is national in implication and local in application. You need to know the services and experts of importance to the community in which your loved one lives.
As the New Haven event proved, the questions and answers and laughs and tears were the same as we have seen in 287 in-person events. We look forward to continuing this informational love-fest virtually until we can all safely be in the same room together. Please join us for this complimentary event on March 11th.
Bring your questions and concerns.
P.S. I would say there is only one major difference between the in-person and virtual events which is that virtual hugs are not nearly as much fun, but they will have to do for now.
