We entered the eighteenth month since the first public awareness of the Covid-19 pandemic with the fervent hope that we were entering the beginning of the end of the pandemic and all it has wrought. Restaurants, sports centers, airports, conferences and movie theaters were once again filled to capacity. But as the news dawned upon us about the newest iteration of the virus, a familiar shudder ran down many of our spines about a return to the bad old days of 2020.
The thing is that it seems this time it may be all relativity avoidable. If it is a viable option for you- get vaccinated, keep wearing your masks, socially distance. You’ve done so very well, so far, and it seems that it is just a bit too early to go back to the good ole’ days of 2019. Especially when you are around your senior loved ones and young family members, cautiousness will save lives.
I am brought to tears by the news reports of those on their death beds from Covid-19, who are tearfully told by their medical professionals that it is too late to start vaccinations.
We will get through this but it seems that it may be a bit early to unceremoniously let our guard down.
No matter what you believe or who you believe when it comes to what to do with regards to your personal safety during these troubling times, please pay close attention to my new motto: Science always wins.
