She lies on the couch, pain showing in her eyes, her weakened body tense. The remote is aimed and the music starts. First just a quiet beat, that slowly builds, until the sound invades the body, chasing away the pain. Then the voices begin, singing of a lost love The harmony speaks to the soul and her body responds. She slowly rises and begins to sway. Awkward and tentative at first, as if discovering a lost friend. Soon she is moving with that familiar grace, feeling, more than hearing the rhythms of life. She dances to the promise of the music. There is no pain.There is no illness. The music has brought Its own redemption. “There is life’ it announces “There is hope” it boldly proclaims And she listens, and dreams, and smiles
