Welcome to CareNotes. In this special section we will feature a reader's letter and provide an opportunity for an interactive exchange that will help find some answers and possible solutions to concerns.
What Should I do?
My mom is 93 years old, has macular degeneration, and lives in Southern California with my sister who cares for her. Mom recently developed pneumonia and was hospitalized. I have called my sister many times to discuss Mom's condition, but she won't return my calls. I feel like I need to go there to see how Mom is doing. I desperately want to see her, but my sister has asked me not to come and said Mom doesn't want "company". What should I do?
