Welcome to CareNotes. In this special section we will feature a reader's letter and provide an opportunity for an interactive exchange that will help find some answers and possible solutions to concerns.
Alternative Transportation
My Dad is 83 years old and is still driving his car everywhere. He has quit driving on the highway, at least as far as i can tell. He always insists on driving when i am with him and i can see that he drives much more slowly than the speed limit and sometimes when i with him in the car, I close my eyes on narrow roads or sharp curves so I don't have to watch the road.
Over the last several years, he's had a few minor fender benders and at least one time where he says his car was hit while in a parking lot. Its never his fault.
He lives alone and is very defensive about his independence. He wont let anyone bring up the subject and just shuts my brother and i out when we try to bring it up.
I don't know what to do. Has anyone solved this?
