"Into The Silence: The Power of Stillness in Living and Dying" is a memoir sharing the intimate experience of caring for my dying mother, while navigating through the endless chattering thoughts and roller-coaster emotions that come with caregiving and, by so doing, support me having access to an inner source of strength, PRESENCE and STILLNESS, and thus enabling me to keep a promise, to BE there for my dying mother.
The text is primarily based on verbatim letters home to my spouse, (living 7000 miles away) in which the hour to hour experience of caregiving was shared with the intention of releasing the energy and stress that builds during the caregiving process, thus allowing PRESENCE and STILLNESS to return.
It is about how siblings respond differently to dying and death. It is about BEING THERE 100%, for the person in care, while at the same time paying attention to the caregiver's own critical need for nurture and self-support. This memoir is a tribute to my mother and to all caregivers for the service they give. Reading one caregiver's experience expands the choices for other caregivers to consider when they are giving care. ..learn more
