Overwhelmed

Too many doctor visits and too much testing. When you say NO to some of the testing, then you are considered a problem patient or caregiver. With enough tests they always find something, which is never the source of the problems, but the pile-up of more stress and anxiety, because it leads to more tests and medicines with more side effects. It seems like a never ending spiral. How do you get out of the spiral and back to normal? Why can't we say NO or maybe later without the stress of being made to feel bad or with recourse of losing your doctor? A vacation from doctors and testing should be an acceptable option. The stress is debilitating for the patient and the caregiver.

The stress from helping others see my LO's behaviors and conversations?

Whenever my husband sees or is aware someone else is seeing his behaviors or speech he can control what each one believes. He's abusive verbally and sometimes aggressive with me, his wife. He's always been aggressive and controlling but since diagnosed with vascular dementia one and a half years ago he's much more volital except if someone else is around?

Overwhelmed

OMG that’s me right now! Every time I take my mom to a doctor I have more and more to deal with( X-rays, labs, specialist, etc). It feels like it’s never ending. thank you for sharing, I’m not alone in this.

Scaling Back

I'm intentionally NOT committing to all the activities and events I usually participate in. I'm feeling my limitations right now, but surprisingly much more at peace knowing I chose to step back, rather than setting myself up for a break down (emotionally or health-wise).

Self-Care

I'm taking care of myself by writing and doing chair yoga. Many people don't understand that writing is self-care for me, but it is, and I love it.

Don't forget Naps!

Naps re-envergize like you wouldn't believe. During busy times, I even schedule them on the calendar. Also, gives other family members time with the family without you!
