How did you become the caregiver for your loved one?
One husband had lung cancer. Another husband had lymphoma and a stroke.
Has your relationship changed with the loved one that you are caring for? If so how?
#1-I had to take over finances that he handled. #2 diagnosed with lymphoma a week after the wedding. Had a fall and discovered with X-ray.
What is the hardest thing about being a caregiver and the most rewarding thing?
My first husband and I were married 48+ years. Lack of demonstration of love. Before diagnosis he was very demonstrative afterwards not much. The most rewarding thing was the appreciation and love in his eyes when I had to do personal hygiene for him.
What advice would you give to other caregivers?
Accept that life has changed even though neither of you wanted it to change.
In ten words or less, what has caregiving taught you?
Patience. Continue to show your love even when he can't respond.
Describe a situation where being a Fearless Caregiver helped you succeed?
Moving him to a hospital bed!
