How did you become the caregiver for your loved one?
I am his wife of 23 years.
Has your relationship changed with the loved one that you are caring for? If so how?
yes. Doing things for him that he would never let me do under any other circumstances like bathroom assistance and showering and dressing.
What is the hardest thing about being a caregiver and the most rewarding thing?
Hardest is being so home bound and restricted in what I can do. Haven't quite determined the rewarding part yet, except my husband is home and not in a care facility
What advice would you give to other caregivers?
.Prepare for the worse and hope for the best.
In ten words or less, what has caregiving taught you?
To take time just being together.
Describe a situation where being a Fearless Caregiver helped you succeed?
When he wanted to start driving and I knew he couldn't for safety reasons. He doesn't know his own limits. I sought out help. He didn't like the answer of no, but it came from a professional assessment and he accepted the results, reluctantly.
