Welcome to CareNotes. In this special section we will feature a reader's letter and provide an opportunity for an interactive exchange that will help find some answers and possible solutions to concerns.
Hurt, angry and depressed
My 92-year-old mother is in assisted living, but I still have to do her finances, shopping for odds and ends, make sure the important mail is taken care of and that she is being properly cared for. I have three sisters, one nearby who has her own issues, one in Vermont and my oldest sister who does help with checking in with Mom, doing laundry and such. Mom is in Rhode Island and about an hour away from me. This sister is now returning south after she told me that she wouldn't be, so what she has been doing is back on my plate. I am hurt, angry and depressed that 99 percent of my mother's care is my responsibility. I guess it is what it is, but I can't help having these feelings and feel somewhat guilty about it..
