I Love You Always

My book was specifically written for caregivers.  My mom had Alzheimer’s and vascular dementia.  Before becoming her caregiver, I had been a hospice professional.  Part of my job entailed educating the community on a variety of subjects including, but not limited to, hospice care, dementia basics, and stress relief techniques for caregivers.  Those were all things that I felt well equipped to share knowledge of, but things changed when I became a caregiver.I had always approached my presentations from the perspective of an educator.  When it came to caring for my mom, I quickly learned that educating and sharing knowledge comes from a “head” space while caregiving comes from a “heart” space.  Although I felt I knew what to do, my feelings oftentimes interfered with my thought process and actions.

I Love You Always not only shares our family’s journey, but also shares the many lessons we learned; from caregiving tips, selecting alternative care, advanced care planning, medical management, and communication suggestions, and hospice selection.Maya Angelou once said, “Do the best you can until you know better.  Then, when you know better, do better.”  My book helps caregivers know more so they can do better.
