Senior Navigator

Caregivers needed trustworthy guidance more than ever in 2020, as COVID-19 added anxiety and fractured their support network. With this in mind, the Lindsay Institute's co-founders, Dr. Richard Lindsay and Gordon Walker, reached out to experts statewide to contribute to the third edition of Senior Navigator, a free publication for older adults and caregivers. Noted contributors included Sen. Elizabeth Dole; Virginia Secretary of Health and Human Resources Daniel Carey, MD; COVID-19 expert Dr. William Petri; and "Legacy List" host Matt Paxton, among many others.

The publication offers guidance on a wide range of topics: military caregiving, advance directives, hospice care, physical fitness, oral health, telehealth, caregiving technology, self-care for caregivers, and more. Throughout its pages, the Institute pointed caregivers to VirginiaNavigator.org and other practical resources.

Originally intended for a central Virginia audience, this publication has received interest and readership statewide, reflecting a hunger for information and support from Virginia's estimated 1 million unpaid family caregivers.
