Fearless Caregiver Profile: SARA THORN

How did you become the caregiver for your loved one?

I have always loved helping others. For the past year I have worked at an assisted living facility as well as an in home caregiver. I have loved every minute of it!

Has your relationship changed with the loved one that you are caring for? If so how?

I have learned to be more compassionate, more kind and more respectful of the lives and stories of those around me.

What is the hardest thing about being a caregiver and the most rewarding thing?

Knowing that each day I can bring a smile to someone by doing a simple task.

What advice would you give to other caregivers?

Be patient, loving and help as much as you can!

In ten words or less, what has caregiving taught you?

To not take anything for granted!

Describe a situation where being a Fearless Caregiver helped you succeed?

I had a job helping someone with severe Alzheimers. She was not, able to communicate with me about what she needs and wants. I gently tried to help and assist her with what she needed. I took initiative to assist her in a loving and caring manner.
