Fearless Caregiver Profile: Latonya McCall

How did you become the caregiver for your loved one?

I'm not the only caregiver for my family. I work outside the home also thru my experience in caregiving. I am currently residing with my mother in which we encourage her to do as much as she can for herself.

Has your relationship changed with the loved one that you are caring for? If so how?

Relationships with caring for love ones can be demanding but with support from other family members, it's makes it easier and the plans of care are carried out just as they written.

What is the hardest thing about being a caregiver and the most rewarding thing?

Hardest thing about being a caregiver is to see them suffering. The most rewarding thing about being a caregiver is knowing that you do your best that the loved one is happy with their care and that my care makes a difference in a person's life.

What advice would you give to other caregivers?

Stay healthy. Take care of your body eat and drink plenty of fluids. Exercise and enjoy your life.

In ten words or less, what has caregiving taught you?

Caregiving has taught me to be patient.

Describe a situation where being a Fearless Caregiver helped you succeed?

Well I can say being fearless is part of the the call. You have to ready and willing to handle situations as they arise and now that I have years of experience working with clients that refused care but was able to handle the situation and to have success.
