Fearless Caregiver Profile: JANICE BOUTTE

How did you become the caregiver for your loved one?

I work from home.

Has your relationship changed with the loved one that you are caring for? If so how?

We are even closer than before.

What is the hardest thing about being a caregiver and the most rewarding thing?

The hardest is seeing they are uncomfortable and unable to do anything to fix it. Most rewarding is bringing a smile to her face when you know she doesn't feel like it.

What advice would you give to other caregivers?

Selflessness; each day is a gift; caring IS sharing

In ten words or less, what has caregiving taught you?

To be more humble.

Describe a situation where being a Fearless Caregiver helped you succeed?

We spend a lot of time in the hospital and ER. It is important that each person who treats our mother understands her disease and its symptoms. So I must ensure she is not tested just for presented symptoms, but the disease itself to prevent unnecessary treatments.
