Fearless Caregiver Profile: BRUCE WILLIAMS

How did you become the caregiver for your loved one?

I'm Ann's husband

Has your relationship changed with the loved one that you are caring for? If so how?

Absolutely. She's gone from a wonderful wife and helpmate to a sweet five year old.

What is the hardest thing about being a caregiver and the most rewarding thing?

Feeling overwhelmed by everything I need to do. My reward is the look of adoration and love in her eyes

What advice would you give to other caregivers?

No matter what it takes, be good to yourself.

In ten words or less, what has caregiving taught you?

I've learned to look beyond the behavior that would have annoyed me.

Describe a situation where being a Fearless Caregiver helped you succeed?

Being fearless enabled me to venture out of my comfort zone and seek emotional support. It not only helped me but Ann, my sweet wife, is very happy because of it. We've found a friend who's husband also has Alzheimer's but is in assisted living. Jackie
