Fearless Caregiver Profile: ALICIA DAVIS

How did you become the caregiver for your loved one?

My beloved husband, Jerry Alan Davis was diagnosed in December, 2010 with a Massive Brain Tumor which was cancerous. He had a 12 hr. surgery to get ALL THE TUMOR!!!! Then in 2013 the cancer showed up again as Bone Cancer this time.

Has your relationship changed with the loved one that you are caring for? If so how?

No

What is the hardest thing about being a caregiver and the most rewarding thing?

The hardest thing is at times helplessly standing beside him when their is nothing I can do. The most rewarding thing is to FINALLY FIND OUT THAT HE IS CANCER-FREE as far as we know now!!!!

What advice would you give to other caregivers?

My main advice is to ALWAYS KEEP THE FAITH!!!!! We are both Christians & OUR STRONG FAITH PLAYS AN IMPORTANT ROLE....

In ten words or less, what has caregiving taught you?

Caregiving has taught me to be more Compassionate & Patient.

Describe a situation where being a Fearless Caregiver helped you succeed?

At one time my husband, Jerry was battling with diarrhea for almost 1 month straight. I had to be firm but caring to try to get him the help he needed. It took awhile, but in the end he got medication to help take care of the diarrhea.
