Why it Matters
Raise your hand if you are exhausted by this election cycle. Oh, I see, you are too exhausted to even raise your hand. Well, like caregiving some of the most important things in life are truly exhausting but vitally important.
No matter which party or candidates you are supporting, please try and remember how very extraordinary it is to be a member of a nearly 245-year-old participatory government. Regardless of recent election debates and debacles, our most valuable right to vote is one that family caregivers need to take extremely seriously. While your vote is certainly important, your educated selection of candidates is of primary importance to you and your loved ones.
Pay attention to the rest of this election cycle not as an impartial spectator in a public relations battle, but as an educated consumer. Wade through the blather and bile heaped up on our airways by their campaigns and then do your own research to find the truth.
- Where do the candidates stand on drug prices, caregiver relief and Medicare?
- Do their words match their existing records and positions?
- Are they committed to fight for us as we care for our loved ones?
I am not writing this to advocate for any candidate or party but if you are asking yourself, “Hey why is he picking on my candidate?” Maybe it is time for you to reconsider why you picked them.
Vote intelligently, but vote.
