Virtual Love

by

As we find ourselves on the way toward the blessed end of the Covid-19 pandemic and all the trials and tribulations it has thrown in the path of family caregivers, it is still extremely important to do all we can to help caregivers battle the challenge of isolation.

One thing we have always enjoyed at our in-person Fearless Caregiver Conferences in years past is the shared wisdom, support and love that can be found in a room filled with family caregivers.  In fact, our newest book “You Are Not Alone”, is chock filled with the remarkable tips, techniques and advice that we have learned from our attendees over the years.

We have always realized as we traveled the nation hosting the events that all family caregiving is national in implication (you need to know about Medicare, Social Security and other national programs), but it is also local in application (in order to develop a care team of local resources that will help you as you care for your loved ones).

Obviously, it will be some time longer before we will be able to spend the day together with our fellow caregivers, so in the meantime, we have started to host the conferences virtually.  The first two events were held for the New Haven, Connecticut and Broward County, Florida communities and I am pleased to report that the interactions, support, advice, caregiver questions and expert answers have been similar to what we have seen during 25 years of in-person events. Which is to say, amazing.

We look forward to hosting virtual Fearless Caregiver Conferences around the nation this year – hopefully in your community.

As I’ve noted before. The main difference between the in-person and the virtual events have been that virtual hugs are not nearly as good as the real ones!

Be well and have a wonderful holiday weekend.
