The Scout's Motto

by

Gail Sheehy stated in her book Passages in Caring: Turning Chaos into Confidence, that Caregiving starts a period in our lives known as the New Normal.  When you layer Covid-19 on top of the challenges faced by caregivers, we enter a phase that I like to call The NEW new Normal.

During this time, everything we do becomes uniquely difficult, from doctor’s appointments, to socialization to interacting with our loved ones to dealing with natural disasters such as fires, hurricanes and tornadoes.

So, it is quite timely that September is National Preparedness Month as we caregivers need to be prepared for almost any contingencies. Which is why I am pleased to be able to share some of the best information I have seen regarding caregiver preparedness that was sent out this week from our friends at the Administration for Community Living led by Assistant Secretary for Aging and ACL Administrator, Lance Robertson.

The motto for every single CEO of Caring for Our Loved Ones, Inc (that’s you) as well as scouts has never been truer than now:  Be Prepared.
