Carenote from Mary Ann

Welcome to CareNotes. In this special section we will feature a reader's letter and provide an opportunity for an interactive exchange that will help find some answers and possible solutions to concerns.

Spend spend spend

At work, we have a client who lives in assisted living and does not get along with her adult daughter. Though in her 90s, she is still VERY able to open a charge account and spend, spend, spend. There must be some help to assist the daughter, in this case, to get her mother to stop spending way too much money. Companies look at this woman as a “cash cow,” so to speak. They do not care whether she should be spending; only that they are getting her money. What do people do when they are in this position as the caregiver?
