When All That's Left is Love

When All That’s Left is Love The Documentary is the emotionally gripping story of a wife’s determination to care for her Alzheimer’s-stricken husband in their home.  With unprecedented, behind-the-scenes access, the film reveals the toll that the disease takes on families coping with Alzheimer's, while also showcasing the power of love that sustains both patients and caregivers.

During a four-year period, Eric moved in with his aging mother and father, one a distraught caregiver nearing complete breakdown and the other an Alzheimer’s patient. In the day-to-day existence of a household that often felt in crisis, he was both a caretaker and a documentary filmmaker who was a “fly on the wall” during the characters’ heartbreaks, setbacks, and moments of shared tenderness and small victories.

The Role of Our Film: Given the rapid development of this public health epidemic, we believe that it is our mission and that of our film is to raise public awareness about the often unseen side of Alzheimer’s disease: the plight of aging caregivers.   For caregivers, an early, clear-eyed view of what they will face, going forward would help in planning, adjustments, and finding open doors to training and support programs for both caregiver and patients.
