This Week’s Music Appointment with Your Patient or Loved One

Sponsored by Goodbye UTI

Many of you tell us that you are feeling especially low and lonely this year, not only due to the long days and endless tasks of being a Caregiver, but also because COVID-19 has left so many of us feeling isolated.

Here’s an idea to brighten your day.  Set up an appointment at a specific time of day with your patient or loved one, make some popcorn or grab a snack and watch a wonderful music video.

Research shows that while doctors use medications to treat symptoms, music can provide additional healing, both for the body and the soul. Music also has a way of sparking wonderful feelings and memories within a listener. These feelings and emotions are often paired with an individual’s past experiences, providing comfort, contentment, and joy. Just one familiar song can make a bad situation or mood better in an instant.

This week’s music video will surprise and delight anyone who remembers Liberace.  We all know that he was an incredible showman and entertained sold-out crowds for years in Las Vegas, but did you know that he also played classical music in concerts around the word for many years?

This music video will take you back to 1986 when Liberace performed in London at a concert celebrating his 40th year in show business.  From the opening scene when he talks directly to all of us and through this 90 minute concert, you will be as mesmerized and thrilled by his performance as all of the people in the audience that day.

Watch his hands as they fly over the keyboard.  Laugh out loud at his jokes.  Enjoy his outrageous outfits.
