The Fearless Caregiver Manifesto

Question/Topic for November 2013

How do you manage your loved one’s care and still take care of yourself?

Although my Mother is in a nursing home, I visit her for several hours each day 5 out of 7 days a week...sometimes 6. I hold an immense amount of guilt because I had to place her in a nursing home to keep her safe. I am often frustrated at her quality of life and wish that I could afford to have her taken care of at home with me. After a job loss last year, I've had to take a severe cut in pay. The medical plan has huge deductibles that prevent me from being able to visit my doctor so I am unable to keep up with my health issues. I miss traveling to visit family and friends across the country to revive my spirit. Bottom line... I am unable to take care of myself.
