If time does not actually fly, why is it that I feel the effects of its jetlag?  I am looking at a picture of myself in a copy of Today’s Caregiver magazine from our second year of publication in which I talk about my fortieth birthday occurring that month.  The journey from the first year of my forties to the last year of the same decade, which I celebrated yesterday, (March 15) seems like all together too short a trip.

What always keeps me grounded as the calendar pages flip off the wall around this time of the year is my annual sojourn to the American Society on Aging and National Coalition on the Aging joint conference, which ended on Monday (March 14).  As usual, I am happy to be reacquainted with so many of the care professionals, service providers and reporters that I see every year at this time.  It is always a pleasure to find more content and products designed to support family caregivers. Keep your eyes open, there is also a lot of great new technology coming down the pike.

Who knows what lies ahead for any of us?  I just know that if I am able to spend whatever time is left to me talking with family and professional caregivers, as I have spent the past ten years, I will greatly look forward to these years ahead, even if the wrinkles increase and the hair recedes from picture to picture.

Sincerely,
