Fifty ain't what it used to be

Let’s talk about making 50 look good.  Monday was our Magazine’s March/April Cover interview, caregiver advocate and ballroom dance diva, Leeza Gibbons 50th birthday.  How did she celebrate? Oh, you know the usual - by dancing the Mambo for 30 million viewers on “Dancing with the Stars”. Last year, if memory serves, I celebrated my 50th by counting the additional creaks and groans my body made as I got out of bed (an increase of about 15%, for those who are interested.)

As Leeza glided effortlessly across the stage and my television screen Monday night, I marveled at how much easier it had gotten to turn 50 in my day (way back when).  As an added benefit, Leeza the Mambo dancer turned back into Leeza the caregiver advocate during the post-dance interview. It was nice to hear the words, “family caregiver” on a glitzy Hollywood television program. By the way, Monday was Leeza’s mom, Jean’s birthday as well.  After her diagnosis, Jean also took to the airwaves to help educate the general public about Alzheimer’s  disease.

We look forward to seeing you at our first ever Miami Fearless Caregiver Conference tomorrow. If you are not able to join us in (hopefully) sunny South Florida, don’t worry, we will be once again traveling around the country with the Fearless Caregiver Tour and look forward to seeing you in a town near you real soon.

Take care

Carenotes

Your newsletter was a valuable source of information & inspiration during the final years of my parents' lives. I will always be grateful that my siblings & I were able to do what was needed to be done for as long as Mom & Dad needed us to do it.

Now that Mom & Dad are both gone, we're looking for guidance on the fairest way to divide their possessions. Can you suggest a resource?

Thanks in advance.
